Arts Department

In Visual Arts class students learn about warm and cool colors and create art such as watercolor paintings. They learn that artists can use certain colors to create emotions in art. Students are actively engaged in the art making process by using a variety of art materials while creating personal touches in their art.

History

History

Students are introduced to History in sixth grade, where they examine various topics through literacy skilled texts/tasks.  As students enter the seventh, they participate in a two-year U.S. History Regents track curriculum, where they are exposed to Colonialism through present day American History.  Students prepare for the NYS U.S. History Regents by engaging in rich historical discussions using a variety of sources.

Illustrative mathematics

Our math curriculum is all about building knowledge - not just skills. Building deep, lasting understanding rather than just memorizing. Knowledge about the real world, rather than hypothetical scenarios. Knowledge through consistent core skill development, rather than reinventing the wheel with each lesson. And the knowledge that builds upon itself for richer connections throughout the learning process. Every child has unlimited potential and is capable of greatness.
