Barack Obama is the 44th president of the US whose term in office started in 2009. He is the son of a White American woman and a Black native of Kenya, Africa. He became the first African American president. He graduated from Columbia University in New York in 1983 and later attended Harvard Law School where he was the first African-American president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review.
He graduated in 1991 and began practicing law. The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to him for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". In 2012, he was re-elected to a second term as President.
